Department of Facilities Management → Division of Maintenance → Drinking Water Testing Program
Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) ensures that school drinking water is safe through implementing U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) technical guidance for testing protocols and other proactive measures for school drinking water. In addition, MCPS also complies with regulations issued by the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) including periodically testing of all drinking water outlets on a three year cycle.
To comply with the new MDE regulations, all drinking water outlets in MCPS will be tested by June 30, 2018. Any drinking water outlet with test results above the EPA action level will be taken out of service and remediated. Once MCPS has completed drinking water testing to comply with MDE regulations, all test results data will be analyzed and additional measures will be evaluated including remediating additional fixtures and instituting a lower action level.
